Rosie Selland, Native American, a tribal member of the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nations. I was born into a Native American family. My biological mother was an alcoholic and was killed in a car accident that left 4 young siblings as orphans. At the age of 16 months old, I and 2 siblings were adopted into a Caucasian family. My new mom and dad were much involved in the church. My young years were spent in church every time the door was open. As a young child my daddy always encouraged me to do and be all that God created me to be. I loved music as a kid and I found myself lining up my teddy bears and singing and preaching to them often. As a small child, I had a desire to serve the Lord with all my heart. At age 9, on my knees before God, I heard that voice of authority calling me to a place in ministry. I knew I had been called to serve the world with a servant’s heart. Through the years, I mastered the voice, and learned to play the piano by ear, and played and sang, directed choir in church often. I have many hobbies that I love. The Lord blessed me with several gifts.
My life consisted of brokenness from the very beginning of life and continued to be traumatic through out the years. After years of tragedy, traumatic events, crisis the damage looked devastating. But…with the help of Almighty God and a courage from within, I walked the journey of healing of my wounds. Putting the pieces of my broken life back together has been only a miracle that God in his mercy and grace could do.
Through song and word, God has greatly used my experience to impact many lives, in restoration to wholeness for those who walk in varying degrees of brokenness. My life has been enriched to reach out and touch other lives with sensitivity, compassion, and a deep understanding. You cannot dry the tears of others who weep unless you have cried yourself. My heavenly Father has given me a gift in music that comes from the very depth of the heart. Music washes away the dust of every day life. Today I sing a new song with a message of hope that no matter where you’ve been, who you are, what you have done, how broken you are, God love you, and God cares about you. God in his most gentle loving way will restore “damaged freight” and make a life new again. God gives beauty of ashes. I promised the Lord that if He would heal my mind, body and soul, I would tell the world of His goodness, healing, His grace and mercy. I gave the Lord my hopeless broken life, He gave me back hope, fullness of joy and a life worth meaning. He took what I gave Him, and blessed it beyond measure. He blesses everything He touches.
I contribute my weekends and vacation time to sharing the gift of music and message of hope with many church congregations, our Native Reservations, Retreats, RV parks, TV programs, Aglow and other workshops and programs across the USA. My ambition in life is to make an impact to the good in the lives around me. He’s the Savior of my soul!.… Psalms 147:3. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the healer of broken hearts. Ps. 95:1-2 says…Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song!
